Position Summary

C5T is seeking a Junior Developer to support the documentation and maintenance of software architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs-and to develop code under the guidance of senior engineers. The Junior Developer will integrate software components, assist with testing to verify requirements, and support troubleshooting in a structured, standards-driven environment.

Location: Scott Air Force Base, IL (and/or designated C5T offices; limited telework may be available based on mission need).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain code; integrate software components into a functional software system.

  • Assist in creating and executing unit and component tests to verify software requirements.

  • Support software design and documentation using established methods, tools, and standards.

  • Troubleshoot defects of limited scope; collaborate to propose and implement fixes.

  • Contribute to build and integration activities; compile components and conduct limited target-environment testing.

  • Gather information to support software project management; document processes, tools, and basic metrics.

  • Assist in specifying and maintaining software requirements under senior engineer guidance.

  • Participate in research, prototypes, and continuous improvement activities.

  • Document work in accordance with policy and security requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills; ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience creating error-free code under direction of senior developers.

  • Exposure to Windows and web development environments.

  • Experience writing software documentation (requirements, design notes, user guidance).

  • Familiarity with unit testing frameworks and modern development toolchains (e.g., Git).
