About the role

Imagine starting your day by checking a calibrated micrometer, opening a traveler packet, and confirming parts meet their drawings before they move to the next step. As a Junior Dimensional Quality Inspector, you’ll perform foundational inspections on incoming materials, in-process assemblies, and finished devices to keep products aligned with specifications and applicable regulations.

What you’ll do (a day in the life)

  • Review work orders and drawings; complete basic visual, dimensional, and functional checks on components and finished goods.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other tools to verify parts meet tolerances; confirm equipment is calibrated and ready to use.
  • Record results consistently, flag nonconformances, and help initiate corrective actions under supervision.
  • Apply entry-level blueprint and schematic interpretation to compare product features against requirements.
  • Organize inspection records to maintain traceability and support compliance activities.
  • Collaborate with production to spot trends and support continuous quality improvements.
  • Participate in ongoing training covering quality systems, inspection techniques, and documentation practices.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Comfort working with fractions and decimals across imperial and metric units.
  • Manufacturing or assembly experience is helpful, though not required.

Skills that help you succeed

  • Familiarity with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and basic metrology concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to notice and describe defects.
  • Clear written and verbal communication for reporting and documentation.
  • Organized, able to prioritize in a fast-paced setting while following procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; consistent, accurate data entry.

Work and physical environment

Typical manufacturing environment. You may walk frequently; use hands for fine measurements; reach; and communicate with the team. You may also sit, climb/balance, or stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl as tasks require, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs. Vision demands include close, distance, and peripheral vision, plus the ability to adjust focus.
