Junior Estimator

We are seeking a detail-oriented Building and Construction Junior Estimator to support preconstruction efforts for a variety of commercial construction projects throughout the Main Line and Greater Philadelphia region. This position plays a critical role in the project lifecycle by developing accurate cost estimates, evaluating bid opportunities, analyzing construction documents, and collaborating with operations teams to secure new work.

Description

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates from drawings and specifications.
• Analyze plans, bid documents, and project requirements.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Develop conceptual, schematic, design development, and hard-bid estimates.
• Assist in preparing bid proposals, qualifications, and pricing packages.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving solutions.
• Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, architects, and clients during preconstruction.
• Maintain and update subcontractor and vendor databases.
• Conduct scope reviews and bid leveling analysis.
• Support turnover meetings to project management and field teams after project award.
• Stay current on construction costs, labor trends, and material pricing.

Profile

A successful Junior Estimator will have:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of estimating experience within commercial construction.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience estimating projects ranging from $1M to $50M+.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
• Proficiency with estimating software, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Procore, Microsoft Excel, or similar platforms.
• Experience reviewing subcontractor proposals and performing bid comparisons.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
