Technical Analyst IT, GRC & Risk Applications

Position Overview
Synovus is seeking a well-rounded
Technical Analyst to support its IT, Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), and Risk Applications organization. This position does not require expertise in one specific programming language or technology stack. The ideal candidate will have strong technical fundamentals, analytical thinking, and the ability to understand how applications, systems, integrations, and data work together.
The Technical Analyst will help investigate application issues, review system logs, document findings, coordinate troubleshooting efforts, and support technology teams responsible for business-critical risk and compliance applications.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze application and system issues to help determine root causes.
- Review system, application, integration, and error logs to identify failures or unusual behavior.
- Troubleshoot incidents by gathering evidence, reproducing problems, and documenting findings.
- Understand application architecture, system dependencies, data flows, and integrations.
- Work with software developers, application owners, infrastructure teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Translate business-reported problems into clear technical requirements or support tickets.
- Assist with application configuration, testing, validation, upgrades, and production releases.
- Support incident, problem, and change-management processes.
- Create and maintain system documentation, process flows, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge-base articles.
- Participate in requirements-gathering sessions and help document functional and technical requirements.
- Perform basic data analysis and database queries to investigate application or data-related issues.
- Monitor application performance, scheduled processes, interfaces, and batch jobs.
- Escalate complex issues with complete documentation, logs, evidence, and impact analysis.
- Follow security, risk-management, audit, and technology-governance standards.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend process, system, or monitoring improvements.
Required Qualifications- Strong understanding of general software-development and application-support concepts.
- Fundamental knowledge of application and systems architecture.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze application and system logs.
- Experience troubleshooting applications, integrations, data, or production-support issues.
- Basic understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, including requirements, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Familiarity with databases and the ability to perform basic SQL queries.
- General understanding of APIs, web services, system integrations, and data exchanges.
- Ability to document technical issues, system behavior, requirements, and resolution steps clearly.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work across technical and nontechnical teams and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting enterprise applications in banking, financial services, risk, audit, compliance, or cybersecurity environments.
- Familiarity with GRC, operational risk, technology risk, regulatory compliance, or audit applications.
- Exposure to cloud platforms, application monitoring, ticketing, or log-analysis tools.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery practices and tools such as Jira or Confluence.
- Understanding of incident management, problem management, change management, and IT controls.
- Basic knowledge of scripting or programming concepts in languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or C# is helpful but not required.
- Experience working with third-party software vendors and enterprise application teams.
