Position Summary
Northeast School Corporation is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Junior High Language Arts Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will inspire students to become thoughtful readers, effective writers, and confident communicators while fostering a positive and engaging classroom environment. The teacher will deliver standards-based instruction aligned with the Indiana Academic Standards and work collaboratively with colleagues to support student achievement.
Essential Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, speaking, and listening.
- Develop students' critical thinking, analytical reading, and written communication skills.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of all learners.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and educational technology to enhance learning.
- Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments and provide timely, meaningful feedback.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and attendance.
- Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and positive classroom culture.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to promote student success.
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, school improvement initiatives, and extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
Qualifications
- Valid Indiana Teaching License in English/Language Arts or eligibility for Indiana licensure.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; master's degree preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of the Indiana Academic Standards for English/Language Arts.
- Demonstrated classroom management and instructional skills.
- Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to fostering a positive school culture and supporting student growth.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching middle school or junior high students.
- Familiarity with data-driven instruction and intervention strategies.
- Experience integrating instructional technology into classroom learning.
- Ability to sponsor extracurricular activities or coach academic teams is a plus.
