Summary

The Colville School District is now accepting applications for a Nutrition Specialist Level I dishwasher to work 3.5 hours/day under the supervision of the Nutrition Director at Colville Junior High School. This position is responsible for performing assigned tasks, which include, but are not limited to the following: food preparation; cooking and baking; serving meals; record keeping; keyboarding; computer data entry; maintaining necessary supplies to perform duties; dishwashing; and general housekeeping.

Essential Duties

  • Work as a positive, collaborative member of the food service staff to support the goals of the Food Service Program and the Colville School District.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and maintain a respectful, professional attitude toward staff, students, and the community.
  • Perform assigned duties, including but not limited to the following: food preparation; cooking and baking; serving meals; record keeping; keyboarding; computer data entry; maintaining necessary supplies to perform duties; dishwashing; and general housekeeping.
  • Implement defined standards of sanitation for personnel, food preparation, kitchen equipment, and physical plant.
  • Follow defined safety protocols for staff, equipment, and physical plant.
  • Assist in food preparation by following established production systems, standardized recipes, and approved methods for preparation, service, and food handling techniques to ensure acceptable standards.
  • Follow established procedures for service and distribution of meals.
  • Assist with preparation and service of meals for special events and activities.
  • Requisition food and/or supplies for workstations.
  • Complete and maintain required forms and records accurately and as assigned.
  • Take responsibility for assigned work area, follow work assignments, and maintain a clean and organized workstation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of departmental regulations and participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Understand and respect the chain of command, grievance procedures, and job responsibilities.
  • Always ensure cleanliness and sanitation of work areas.
  • Attend relevant training sessions and workshops.
  • Provide coverage for other kitchen staff during absences as needed.
  • Perform clerical duties when required.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A favorable reporting of state and national background check is required.
  • Must have a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Washington State or Tri County Health District Food Worker Card prior to the first scheduled workday.
  • This is an entry-level position; prior experience in a similar role is preferred, but training will be provided.
  • Ability to learn components necessary for federal meal reimbursement compliance.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work as part of a team and use effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrates responsibility, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Must take initiative and be punctual and dependable.
  • Must have a neat, clean appearance and good personal hygiene.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and interact positively with school-age children.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to operate a computer at an entry level.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and emails.
  • Ability to write clear and concise correspondence.
  • Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings to school staff.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to respond promptly to immediate situations.
