Junior High Science Teacher

Duties:

• Develop and deliver science lessons aligned with Illinois state standards and district curriculum • Teach life science, physical science, earth science, and related content areas • Design and implement hands-on labs, experiments, and inquiry-based learning activities • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs and 504 plans • Maintain and organize science equipment, materials, and classroom resources • Establish and maintain a structured, positive classroom learning environment • Implement effective classroom management strategies • Collaborate with grade-level teams and colleagues on curriculum planning • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events

Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate middle school science endorsement • Knowledge of Illinois Learning Standards and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) • Ability to develop and implement standards-aligned lesson plans • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and proper use of science equipment • Experience using assessment data to guide instruction • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and administrators • Commitment to ongoing professional development

Salary and Benefits

Salary and benefits are determined per the BVEA collective bargaining agreement. Additional notes include:
