Junior Manufacturing Buyer Role
The Junior Manufacturing Buyer coordinates the procurement and distribution of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies across the organization. This role ensures that all operational purchasing requirements arrive on schedule, within budget, and according to established quality standards.
Junior Manufacturing Buyer Responsibilities
- Coordinate all procurement activities for assigned commodities from intent to purchase through delivery
- Analyze commodity requirements, preliminary specifications, preferred suppliers, and delivery schedules
- Solicit and evaluate competitive vendor proposals for requested materials
- Research and interview prospective suppliers to verify operational capabilities and compliance
- Negotiate optimal costs while balancing quality standards and project schedules
- Monitor order statuses, shipping notices, and delivery timelines to ensure on-time arrival
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, amendments, and vendor documentation
- Address supplier performance issues regarding late deliveries and quality non-conformance
Junior Manufacturing Buyer Reporting Relationships
This role reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and has no direct reports.
About You
- Hold an Associate degree or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bring 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain support
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, including strong skills in Microsoft Excel
- Maintain familiarity with QuickBooks software and standard purchasing workflow tools
- Display strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail
- Apply effective written and verbal communication skills when negotiating with vendors
- Demonstrate practical mathematical capabilities to calculate discounts, proportions, and percentages
- Show a willingness to undergo training and adapt to expanding operational needs
