Job Description

Manufacturing Engineering AssistantUpper Fairfield County, CT  |  Direct Hire  |  1st Shift  |  Competitive Pay
Prefer the shop floor to sitting behind a desk all day? Mechanically inclined, curious and ready to jump in? This could be a great fit.
We are recruiting for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineering Assistant to work across Engineering, Quality and Production in a fast-moving precision manufacturing environment. The title may say Engineering Assistant, but this is not a traditional desk-based support role. This opportunity is built for someone who likes understanding how things work, solving problems, working with their hands and becoming the person the team can count on wherever help is needed.WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Support Engineering with day-to-day manufacturing, process and shop-floor needs.
  • Work directly alongside Production, Quality and Engineering to troubleshoot problems and keep work moving.
  • Read and work from drawings, blueprints and manufacturing documentation.
  • Assist with manufacturing processes, equipment-related issues and continuous improvement activities.
  • Move comfortably between the shop floor and engineering/quality functions based on the needs of the operation.
  • Take initiative when something needs attention rather than waiting for every task to be assigned.
  • Learn new processes, tools and responsibilities as the position grows.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and genuine interest in how products, equipment and manufacturing processes work.
  • Hands-on manufacturing, machining, fabrication, mechanical assembly, maintenance, automotive/mechanical or technical experience.
  • Comfort working directly on a manufacturing floor and getting your hands dirty.
  • Ability to read drawings/blueprints and understand basic manufacturing processes.
  • Exposure to CNC machining or precision manufacturing is a strong plus.
  • Problem-solving ability, curiosity and willingness to learn outside your current experience.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across Engineering, Quality and Production.
  • Engineering degree is welcome but NOT required; practical mechanical capability and initiative matter more.

THE RIGHT FIT
The best candidate may be a Junior Manufacturing Engineer, Engineering Technician, Manufacturing Engineering Technician, mechanically inclined Engineering Assistant—or someone who built strong technical skills through hands-on manufacturing or mechanical work. We are looking for energy, grit, versatility and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, not someone who wants a narrowly defined desk job.
If your instinct is “I see something that needs to get done—I can help with that,” we want to hear from you.
