Job Title: Junior Manufacturing Engineer

Hire Type: Contract (W2 employment thru Sterling Engineering)
Contract Length: Approximately 4-6 weeks (possibly longer)
Target Pay Rate: Up to $40.00/hour, depending on experience
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday (first shift), Full-Time, Onsite
Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a Junior Manufacturing Engineer to provide short-term engineering support at their Northbrook manufacturing facility. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level engineer who is intelligent, energetic, hands-on, and eager to gain experience in a manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate is a quick learner who can jump into new challenges, work independently, and support engineering and validation activities with minimal supervision. A specific technical background is not required; candidates with Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, or related engineering degrees are encouraged to apply.
Must Have Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Quick learner with a proactive, hands-on approach
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing/production environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Available to start ASAP
Job Duties:
- Provide day-to-day engineering support to the manufacturing team.
- Assist with validation activities and related engineering projects.
- Work directly on the production floor to identify issues and help develop solutions.
- Support testing, documentation, data collection, and other engineering activities as needed.
- Quickly learn processes, equipment, and procedures to support short-term project needs.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, manufacturing personnel, and other departments.
- Take initiative to identify what needs to be done and proactively assist wherever needed.
- Perform other engineering and manufacturing support duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Entry-level engineering experience is acceptable.
- Internship, co-op, laboratory, manufacturing, or hands-on production experience is a plus but not required.
- High energy, self-motivated, and willing to jump in and take on a variety of tasks.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
- Ability to figure things out and solve problems without extensive direction.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Must be available to start ASAP.
