The Professional Division of Spherion Mid Ohio is partnering with a growing manufacturer in Ashland, Ohio seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team.
This is a newly created position driven by company growth and an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who wants to do more than sit behind a computer all day.
You'll have the chance to take what you know from school, internships, co-ops, or your first engineering role and apply it to real products that are designed, manufactured, assembled, and tested on-site.
Salary: $70,000–$85,000, based on experience
Schedule: 1st shift, Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
Additional Compensation: Bonus eligible

What You'll Be Doing
You'll work closely with experienced engineering professionals while developing your own design skills and taking on increasing responsibility.
• Create and revise 3D models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and bills of material
• Support mechanical design projects from defined requirements through production release
• Complete engineering calculations and assist with component selection
• Help develop prototypes and support product testing, data collection, and documentation
• Work with manufacturing to resolve drawing, design, and production questions
• Maintain accurate engineering revisions, change documentation, PDM, and ERP information
• Participate in design reviews, production trials, and corrective actions
• Support cost reduction, product standardization, and design-for-manufacturing initiatives
• Spend time on the production floor learning how products are fabricated, assembled, tested, and improved
• Recommend design, component, and manufacturing improvements as your knowledge grows
What We're Looking For
You do not need years of experience to be considered. A strong internship, co-op, or hands-on engineering background may be enough to get the conversation started.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field, completed or nearing completion
• Working knowledge of 3D CAD and mechanical drawings
• Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerancing
• Strong attention to detail with a willingness to ask questions and learn
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other departments
SolidWorks experience is preferred , but relevant experience with other 3D CAD platforms will be considered.
Experience or exposure to automation, machinery, robotics, packaging equipment, custom equipment, material handling, manufacturing, fabrication, prototyping, or product testing can translate well into this opportunity.
