Junior Physical Commodities Trader
Location: Geneva

We are working with a fast-growing international trade house that is looking to hire a Junior Physical Commodities Trader into its Geneva office.

This is not a senior trader seat, and the client is not looking for someone to arrive with a fully formed book.

Instead, they are looking for an ambitious early-career commodities professional who wants to develop into physical trading under the guidance of an experienced Head of Agri.

The role will focus on supporting the growth of a physical agricultural commodities book, with exposure to products such as:

• Grains
• Oilseeds
• Meals
• Vegetable oils
• Related soft agricultural commodities

Experience in soft ags or freight would be particularly valuable. The client would also be interested in candidates who have gained exposure through trading analytics, graduate rotations, assistant trading, operations, brokerage or junior commercial roles within a recognised trading house or commodities platform.

This is a physical trading role, not a speculative paper trading seat. The focus will be on learning and supporting the development of physical flows, counterparties, freight, logistics, execution, hedging and commercial decision-making.

We are particularly interested in people who are:

• Early in their commodities career
• Curious, proactive and eager to learn
• Comfortable asking questions and taking initiative
• Social, commercially minded and relationship-driven
• Keen to move closer to physical trading
• Based in, or able to relocate to, Geneva

This could suit someone coming from a trading house graduate programme, freight desk, trading analyst role, junior trader / assistant trader seat, brokerage role or commercial execution background.

For the right person, this is a strong opportunity to develop directly under an experienced physical trader and grow with a platform that is actively building its agricultural commodities business.
