Junior Precision Manufacturing Machinist — ISO 13485 Environment

Do you enjoy bringing tight-tolerance parts to life on multiaxis CNC equipment? Want to start or grow your career building components for medical devices in a regulated setting? At TOMZ, you will report to the Operations Supervisor and help turn engineered drawings into inspected, traceable parts.

Imagine this

You load material, verify setup, and run a first article on a Citizen or Tsugami Swiss lathe. The comparator and Micro-Hite confirm dimensions, and you record results in our ERP and QMS. Mid-shift, a mill-turn presents a complex alarm—working with your team, you diagnose tooling wear, adjust offsets, and resume production. Before you clock out, you complete inspection documentation and confirm material status and traceability.

In this role, you will

  • Operate and maintain 3-, 4-, and 5-axis equipment: Robo Drills, mill-turns, horizontal/vertical mills, CNC Swiss (Citizen, Tsugami), and Index multi-spindle lathes.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using a microscope, micrometers, calipers, pin/thread gauges, comparator, and Micro-Hite.
  • Document to ISO 13485 standards, compiling quality inspection records and maintaining material identification and traceability for conforming and nonconforming product.
  • Use ERP and QMS tools to control inspection records and product status.
  • Support root-cause and problem-solving efforts for challenging machine or process issues.
  • Follow the TOMZ Quality Management System, maintain safe conditions, wear required PPE, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Contribute to Quality Best Practices and continuous improvement of GDP/GMP.

What you bring

  • Basic understanding of machining equipment operation, care, and inspection methods.
  • Ability to use hand tools for preventive maintenance, repairs, and tool changes.
  • Competence reading blueprints, specifications, and procedures.
  • Detail orientation and the ability to complete work accurately and promptly.
  • Foundational GD&T and familiarity with GMP/ISO.

Experience baseline

  • 0-2 years in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Bonus experience

  • Class I, II, and/or III medical device manufacturing exposure.
  • Time in regulated sectors such as aerospace, defense, or pharmaceutical.
  • Strong English communication skills, written and verbal.

Physical demands

  • Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds; team lift or mechanical assist required over 50 pounds.
  • Repetitive hand and arm movements while handling up to 20 pounds; grip, twist, and place components for extended periods; lift overhead.
  • 20/20 vision (assisted or unassisted) for sorting raw and non-conforming materials; good dexterity for small-to-medium products.
  • Work around oil, grease, occupational noise, cleaning solvents, dust, metal particles, sparks, and coolant; PPE such as safety glasses, dust masks, ear plugs, and cut-resistant or chemical-resistant gloves, plus engineering controls, may be required.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.

Tools you will touch

  • CNC Swiss lathes (Citizen, Tsugami), Robo Drills, Index multi-spindle lathes, horizontal and vertical mills, and precision measurement tools including comparator and Micro-Hite.
