Minnesota Medical Specialists– Junior Regional Field Service Technician Job Description
Job Title: Junior Regional Field Service Technician for South Dakota

Approved Date: July 2026

Position is full-time & salaried, non-exempt with an expectation of no less than 40 hours/week.
Position is 100% remote dispatch, with company vehicle, tools and equipment provided.

Summary: Field Service Technicians install, service, maintain and repair biomedical systems and
equipment. Emphasis on durable, deployable and capital medical equipment, i.e., laboratory, clinical,
dental, therapeutic, pneumatic, hydraulic, general, surgical, diagnostic and treatment equipment at the
hardware, component, sub-assembly, module or circuit board level. Technicians maintain, repair and install
equipment of the following types: mechanical, electrical, diagnostic, controlling, monitoring and recording.
Candidate must reside in or relocate to one of the following SD cities: Brookings, Sioux Falls or Mitchell.

Duties & Requirements:
• Assemble, maintain, troubleshoot, align, and calibrate medical & laboratory equipment.
• Able to work with various electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, steam, water and air systems.
• Able to read circuit diagrams and wiring schematics, working knowledge of electrical systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance according to contractual requirements
• Manage repair parts, maintain inventories, order replacement parts and equipment.
• Render technical advice and assistance as required.
• Provide customers and end users with product and technical support.
• Provides technical service/mechanical troubleshooting of equipment.
• Accurately document work conducted, and log times and materials for services on digital CMMS.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
• Must be able to work with and communicate with technical experts, healthcare
professionals/managers, and OEM representatives.
• Must be willing to travel to perform on-site repairs, occasional overnight/multiday visits possible.
• Must be self-directed and able to exercise sound judgment and problem solving with minimal
guidance, oversight or direct management.
• Able to promptly respond to customer inquiries and needs, both on-the-job and remotely.
• Communicates with customers to help them understand how to use, maintain and troubleshoot
their products and devices properly.
• Completes, maintains, updates, and processes pertinent digital systems, paperwork and records.
• Solve problems, document procedures and formulate repair plans and maintenance strategies.
• Operate, control and maintain various biomedical test and calibration equipment.
• Comfortability with various digital systems (CMMS, word processing, equipment service software)

Education and Experience: Certificate(s) from trade/technical school or similar programs (electrical,
plumbing, HVAC, biomedical, military training programs, etc.). 2-4 years of work experience in healthcare
technical service fields preferred. CBET, CABT, CISS-MH and/or any other biomedical device repair and
service certifications a plus.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in
situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
digital, written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current drivers’ license valid for the state of residence is required.
CBET, CABT, CISS-MH and/or any other biomedical device repair and service certifications a plus.
Specific Work-in-Focus Concentrations: Any experience servicing, repairing, maintaining, or otherwise
performing work on industrial grade steam sterilization or bulk washer systems is preferred. Experience
managing or utilizing digital CMMS or FSM platforms a plus.

General Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand, walk, sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms;
climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move
up to fifty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision. Reasonable

General Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed
to moving parts, cold, heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually

Additional Expectations & Factors:

• Company will provide laptop computer and field service tablet for remote work.
• Role is overtime non-exempt – overtime pay to be granted for any approved & requested hours 
over standard 80-hour biweekly pay-period. 
• Company will provide service vehicle for use and field service dispatches. 
• Company will provide monthly stipend to offset cell phone bill for work-related calls. 
• Company will provide a full set of necessary tools and equipment. Personal tools and equipment 
may be used by the employee by request and approval from the supervisor following verification 
and validation of safety & function. 
• Company will provide mileage payments for use of personally owned vehicle in the event company 
vehicle is not utilized.
• Company paid training opportunities, certification classes, testing and recertification dues. 
• This role is in support of a rapidly growing market, and overnight travel may be required in support
of clients. 
• Role will work directly with remote-based sales & marketing team to further develop opportunities.
