Schedule: Monday - Thursday | 7:00 AM - 5:45 PM
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Reports to: Production Supervisor / Area Lead

Top Metal Solutions is seeking motivated and career-driven individuals to join our team as a Junior Welder. This position is ideal for candidates who recently completed welding school, technical training, or have basic welding experience using GMAW and are ready to gain real-world manufacturing experience in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

As a Junior Welder, you will work alongside experienced welders and fabricators to develop your welding skills, improve production efficiency, and learn advanced fabrication processes. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to grow within the welding industry and advance into higher-level welding and fabrication positions.

Position Summary

The Junior Welder is responsible for performing entry-level welding and fabrication tasks while supporting production operations. This position will assist with GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) and FCAW-G (Flux Cored Arc Welding - Gas Shielded) processes, material preparation, assembly support, and basic fabrication duties under the guidance of experienced team members and supervisors.

The ideal candidate has foundational welding knowledge, understands basic welding safety and machine setup, and is motivated to continue developing technical and production skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic GMAW welding on metal components and assemblies
  • Assist with FCAW-G welding operations as needed
  • Read and follow basic work instructions and production drawings
  • Prepare materials for welding and fabrication
  • Grind, clean, and finish welded parts
  • Assist with fitting and alignment of parts and assemblies
  • Operate welding machines and basic fabrication equipment safely
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Follow company quality standards and production schedules
  • Inspect welds visually for basic defects and consistency
  • Support senior welders and fabrication team members
  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements

Welding & Fabrication Skills

  • Basic GMAW welding knowledge required
  • Familiarity with FCAW-G welding processes preferred
  • Ability to perform tack welds and simple weld passes
  • Basic understanding of weld penetration and bead appearance
  • Familiarity with measuring tools and fabrication equipment
  • Ability to learn welding parameters and machine settings
  • Basic understanding of blueprints or shop drawings preferred

  • GMAW welding machines
  • FCAW-G welding equipment
  • Grinders and finishing tools
  • Drills and saws
  • Tape measures and layout tools
  • Clamps and fabrication fixtures
  • Hand and power tools

Qualifications

  • Welding school, technical training, or equivalent welding experience preferred
  • Basic GMAW welding experience required
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing and fabrication environment
  • Strong willingness to learn and improve welding skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work within a team environment
  • Good attendance and reliability
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent welding school graduates encouraged to apply
  • Basic FCAW-G welding experience is a plus
  • Previous shop or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Ability to read basic blueprints is a plus
  • Experience using fabrication tools and equipment preferred

Compensation

  • Starting pay: $19/hour
  • Full-time position
  • 40 hours per week
  • Overtime opportunities available depending on workload

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs regularly
  • Ability to bend, kneel, push, pull, and work in a physically demanding environment
  • Ability to work safely around machinery and welding equipment

Work Environment

This position works inside a metal fabrication and manufacturing facility. Employees may be exposed to heat, dust, sparks, noise, and heavy equipment. Proper PPE must be worn at all times.
