Summary

Grand Ledge High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our athletic department as a JV Sideline Cheer Coach for the upcoming season. This seasonal position is ideal for someone with a passion for cheerleading and a commitment to fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit among our student-athletes. The coach will be responsible for developing the cheer program, mentoring student-athletes, and promoting a positive and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement practice plans that enhance cheerleading skills, teamwork, and performance.
  • Coach and lead the JV sideline cheer squad during games, events, and competitions.
  • Organize and conduct tryouts, selecting team members based on skill, attitude, and commitment.
  • Collaborate with the varsity cheer coach to align team goals and strategies.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all cheerleaders during practices and events.
  • Promote school spirit and support the athletic department's mission through cheerleading activities.
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding schedules, expectations, and team progress.
  • Attend all scheduled games, practices, and team events, including summer camps and fundraisers as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, injuries, and other relevant information.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages personal growth and development among cheerleaders.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in cheerleading, coaching, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cheerleading techniques, safety practices, and performance skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches, staff, and parents.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Current certification in CPR and First Aid is a plus.
  • Must pass a background check as required by school district policies.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends during the cheer season.
  • A positive attitude and a genuine passion for mentoring young athletes.
