SALARY RANGE
According to the Salmon River Teachers Association Contract - Starting at $56,988 with potential for a higher salary contingent on experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
New York State Certification for Music Education (K-12)
Ability to establish positive rapport with students, staff, parents, and community
Knowledge and awareness of the current trends in teaching of pupils and NYS Learning Standards
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable
MAJOR DUTIES
Teaches skills in music appreciation, harmony, and exploration in music (general music, chorus, and band);
Utilizes the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities;
Plans a balanced music program and organizes daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time;
Utilizes a repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary, that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students;
Collaborates with colleagues to integrate literacy skills and contribute to overall student achievement;
Evaluates each pupil's growth and performance, assessing each individual's contribution to the performance of the group;
Plans, rehearses, and directs pupils in musical programs for school and community, as assigned;
Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records;
Supervises pupils in/out of classroom activities as assigned;
Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs;
Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities;
Maintains professional competence through in-service education provided by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities related to music;
Preference given for someone with piano skills;
Preference given for someone with computer instruction skills;
Collaborates and supports the K-12 Music Department, as needed;
Other duties as assigned by an Administrator.S
