Overview:
University Instructors, LLC is seeking talented people from diverse backgrounds to lead, change, and inspire students in the Norfolk area. In this role you will serve students as a classroom teacher in a pathway program.
**Candidates that hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in ANY field are eligible to take part in our pathways program. In this program you have the opportunity to become eligible for a provisional teaching license for school year 2026-27 and beyond.
Responsibilities:
Successful applicants will:
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, administrators, support staff and parents.
- Continually assess and monitor student achievement and maintain all documents and evaluations for institutional and individual reporting purposes.
- Design and implement appropriate instructional and/or learning strategies and activities.
- Manage student behaviors in the instructional setting to ensure an environment that is conducive to the learning process.
- Assist in management of student behaviors in other parts of the school, center, school grounds, or work site.
- Coordinate instructional activities with other professional staff, both school and non-school based as required, to maximize student learning opportunities.
- Participate in in-service and professional development activities and staff meetings, as required or assigned.
- Communicate with students on instructional expectations to keep them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means.
- Collaborate with other professionals and support staff to carry out schoolwide instructional or related activities as needed.
- Use multi-media and other technologies to enhance learning.
- Plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives for students with varying ability.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Successful applicants will:
- Have completed a bachelor’s degree program in any field from a regionally accredited university or institution.
- Have previously completed a foundations of teaching course or be willing to take the course as a term of their employment.
- Will work towards successfully obtaining a provisional Teaching License from the state of Virginia.
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Compensation:
$31 per hour | Monday–Friday | Daytime schedule
