Position Details

Position Title: K-12 Special Education Teacher

Job Summary: Litchfield Community Schools is seeking applications for a K-12 special

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Implements instructional activities defined by existing performance objectives.

Plans and develops student activities in coordination with the IEP.

Maintains effective relationships with staff and parents.

Maintains all records pertaining to student needs in coordination with the IEP.

Evaluates student progress based on papers submitted, test scores and observation.

Maintains physical environment of the classroom.

Personal characteristics of promptness, dependability, self-directedness, initiative and

problem solving ability.

Works with staff to coordinate goals and objectives.

Evaluates students progress based on work output and observation, determines goals,

objectives and directions.

Attendance is an essential part of employment.

All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or

Education and/or Experience

Must have a valid Michigan teaching certificate.

Current special education endorsement in SA, SE, or SM preferred.

Experience as a special education classroom teacher is a plus.

Familiarity with current trends and issues in special education programs and services.

Possession of solid organizational and planning skills.

Ability to utilize computer systems and related technology for instructional applications

Ability to work collaboratively within a team of general and special education

consultants.

Ability to analyze current law, rules, initiatives and to recognize their implications on the

role of the special education teacher.

Employment Date, Salary and Work Year

Anticipated start date will be determined upon hire for the 2026-2027 School Year. Salary is

determined as per the master contract. This position is contracted for 180 days per school year.
