Description of Service Opportunity
The CPS SOARS program is a four-week summer learning experience for current grade K-4 students with demonstrated academic need. Each classroom will have one teacher, one paraprofessional, and up to 15 students. The Summer Science Teacher will provide grade-specific science enrichment classes on a rotating schedule throughout the week to students in the CPS SOARS Camp.
The CPS Summer Science teacher under the direction of the Executive Director of Academics will be responsible for:
• Providing a fun, safe, theme-based summer learning experience that promotes high expectations for all students • Collaborating with program principals and instructional staff to design lessons that align with district-provided curriculum • Facilitating grade-appropriate art projects and activities for students
Program Logistics
Dates: May 1-June 30, 2025 Hours: 15 hours of orientation, program planning, and curriculum training Specific dates communicated with job offer July 6-31, 2026

Time: 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., teacher work day Location: Morse Elementary School
Minimum Requirements
Teachers must have the ability to teach students with a range of learning needs in multi-age classrooms. Massachusetts DESE licensure in Visual Arts, English as a Second Language, and/or Moderate Disabilities (preK-8) is preferred. Priority will be given to regularly appointed teachers from Cambridge Public School District.

Contract Amount
Not to exceed $5,750.00
Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours.
