Primary Role

The Elementary Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment that promotes students social, emotional, and academic growth. This role delivers instruction aligned to district curriculum, implements Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) strategies, and ensures compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and progress monitoring requirements. The teacher collaborates with grade-level teams, participates in case conferences and committees, and communicates consistently with families. By balancing effective classroom management, accurate recordkeeping, and strong relationships, the Elementary Teacher fosters student achievement and well-being.

Key Accountabilities

Job Specific Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction aligned to district curriculum while incorporating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) strategies.
  • Support the social, emotional, and academic growth of students through engaging lessons and a positive classroom environment.
  • Implement and monitor classroom management plans in alignment with PBIS and school expectations.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant student records, including beginning-of-year (BOY) file reviews, end-of-year permanent files, and grade submissions.
  • Ensure fidelity in implementing IEPs and BIPs, including progress monitoring and data reporting.
  • Provide plans for substitutes for short or long term absences

Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, including cross-district teacher meetings, to support curriculum alignment and instructional growth.
  • Participate in case conferences and building-level committees as needed to support student success and school initiatives.
  • Communicate regularly with families to build strong partnerships and support student learning.
  • Attend and support schoolwide community events when possible to strengthen school-family connections.
