Position Summary:

Sharon Center School is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and student-centered Art Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. The successful candidate will provide engaging visual arts instruction for students in grades K8, fostering creativity, artistic expression, and an appreciation for the visual arts. Essential Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging visual arts instruction for students in grades K8.
  • Develop and implement standards-based art lessons that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression.
  • Introduce students to a variety of artistic techniques, media, and cultural perspectives.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment where all students are encouraged to take creative risks and develop their individual talents.
  • Assess student learning and use assessment data to inform instruction.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and well-equipped art classroom.
  • Display and celebrate student artwork throughout the school and community.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support student learning and contribute to a positive school culture.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid Connecticut certification with Art, PreK12 (042) endorsement required or eligibility for certification.
  • Knowledge of effective instructional practices and classroom management.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Successful completion of all required background checks in accordance with Connecticut law.

Terms of Employment:

  • This is a 0.5 FTE teaching position.
  • Salary Range: $28,003 $57,112 annually, commensurate with education and experience, in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
  • Benefits, work year, and working conditions are established by the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
