Duties The music teacher is responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons that promote students creativity and musical development. This role involves creating a positive learning environment, encouraging students to express themselves, and ensuring students develop basic skills. The teacher maintains regular communication with parents/guardians with regard to their instructional program and student progress.
Qualifications
Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License with a music/band endorsement for grades K-8
Ability to tailor lessons to accommodate diverse learning needs and abilities, ensuring all students have opportunities for creative expression
Ability to foster a love for music
Foundational knowledge of Google Classroom applications and the ability to incorporate technology as a means of enhancing instruction. Individual must be flexible, creative, and student-centered. Ability to assess the learning of students and modify or enhance instruction as needed. Able to work with a diverse student population and establish open and regular communication with parents and guardians.
Salary and Benefits
Starting salary of $43,395 with B.A. and no experience or steps on the salary schedule. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Qualified candidates may be granted up to fifteen years of verified full-time teaching experience for credit on the salary schedule.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Mental Demands Frequently changes priorities, quickly ability to manage stress with multiple interruptions and distractions, analyzing, organizing, evaluating, planning, ability to redefine and clarify instructions. Frequent presenting.
Physical Demands Ability to operate standard office equipment, keyboards, and subject-specific equipment. Combination of sedentary and non-sedentary duties, manual dexterity including fine manipulation for writing and typing, prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach, close visual acuity, frequent walking, occasional bending, bending stooping, and standing, occasionally lifting and carrying 5-15 pounds.
Ability to read and write, ability to speak and understand the English language.
Environmental Conditions Primarily indoor work in an educational setting, minimal exposure to weather conditions, working primarily independently, occasional field trips, occasional evening events.
