Love working with animals? Come join our fun and dedicated team! We are a fast paced and busy animal shelter that is currently looking for highly motivated, hardworking individuals to join the Nevada County Animal Shelter team.

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Kennel Attendants to work both part-time and full-time. The ideal candidates will have a passion for animal care and be committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for animals. As a Kennel Attendant, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our facility, ensuring the well-being of the animals in our care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care for animals, including feeding and exercising dogs.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas by performing regular cleaning tasks.
  • Assist with grooming and bathing animals as needed.
  • Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns.
  • Assist in heavy lifting up to 110lbs tasks related to animal care, including moving crates or supplies.
  • Fast Pace Environment; pride of cleanliness

Experience

  • Previous Kennel experience, or animal handling and dog Training is preferred.
  • Ability to perform animal restraint safely and effectively.
  • Must be comfortable with heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks associated with animal care.
  • A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their well-being is essential.

Retirement

The County is a member of the CalPERS retirement system and also provides the opportunity for voluntary contributions to a 457 deferred compensation account through Nationwide by way of pre-tax and Roth payroll deductions.

They will also handle adoption of animals and releases of impounded animals to owners; quarantining animals as needed.
