Primary Keyboarding Paraprofessional Job Description

Reports To

Building Principal, Assistant Principal, and Assigned Teacher

Position Summary

The Elementary Keyboarding Paraprofessional supports students in developing keyboarding and basic computer skills. The paraprofessional assists with classroom instruction, supervises students, and helps maintain a positive and productive learning environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist students during keyboarding and computer lessons.
  • Reinforce proper keyboarding techniques and computer skills as directed by the teacher.
  • Help students log in to programs and troubleshoot simple technology issues.
  • Monitor student progress and encourage positive work habits.
  • Maintain an organized and orderly computer lab or classroom.
  • Prepare instructional materials and assist with classroom organization.
  • Supervise students and promote safe, respectful, and responsible technology use.
  • Communicate with the supervising teacher and administration regarding student needs or concerns.
  • Assist with school duties such as lunch, recess, bus, car line, hallway supervision, or other assigned responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meets Arkansas Department of Education requirements for paraprofessionals.
  • Basic computer and technology skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the school day.
  • Ability to lift and move classroom materials and light technology equipment.
