    POSITION:  Maintenance Specialist

    DEPARTMENT: Operations

    REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager

    FLSA STATUS:  Hourly, Non-Exempt

    KFC YUM! CENTER operated by Legends Global is a multi-use entertainment venue in Louisville, Kentucky. The KFC Yum! Center offers a variety of world-class events including concerts, family shows, sporting events and other special events, while providing a clean and safe environment and guaranteeing the ideal entertainment, guest experience and satisfaction.
     

    Summary

    The Maintenance Specialist oversees the set up for shows and electrical building maintenance in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Performs scheduled maintenance projects to fulfill work orders.
    • Inspects electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers in order to diagnose and resolve issues.  Tests electrical systems to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
    • Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to identify electrical problems and correct the issue.
    • Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components in order to maintain and repair large motors, equipment, and control systems.
    • Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, such as street lights, fire alarm system, etc. in order to ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes.
    • Coordinates with outside vendors to assist with repairs and the advancement of production as needed, abiding by state and local building regulations based on the NEC (National Electric Code). 
    • Temporary event/show power distribution, including connecting and disconnecting event power, feeder cable, grounding power distribution equipment.
    • Emergency troubleshooting during live events.

    Education and/or Experience          

    • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
    • Two-Four years prior experience required.
       

    Skills and Abilities  

    • Ability to understand and follow simple directions communicated both orally and in writing
    • Ability to take direction from multiple supervisory and management staff
    • Ability to use hand and power tools and equipment common to the construction trade
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
    • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures of the construction industry
    • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
    • Must be able to climb, crawl, bend, and stoop with or without reasonable accommodations
    • Must be able to work under minimum supervision
    • Must maintain current electrical license or identification card to meet governmental regulations

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge of programmable controllers and computer fundamentals
    • Possess or working towards a Journeyman license
    • Ability to read blueprints or technical diagrams
    • Commercial/industrial electrical experience, preferably in arenas, convention centers, entertainment venues, manufacturing hospitals, or other large facilities

    • Physical ability to move quickly throughout arena for extended periods
    • Stand for long hours during events
    • Frequently required to kneel, stoop, reach, carry, crawl, stretch, reach and balance
    • Climbing ladders and working from heights as necessary
    • Frequently required to lift or move items up to 50 pounds
    • Work indoors and outdoors depending on event needs.
    • Work in environments with loud noise, weather exposure and operational equipment
