Job Summary:

Responsible for preparing, diagnosing and evaluating gynecological and non gynecological specimens.  

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Use appropriate classifications when reviewing and diagnosing gynecological and non gynecological slides.

  2. Provide patient side assistance to physicians and radiologists by preparing  
      specimens. Review and report diagnoses. 

  3. Prepare microscopic slides from gross specimens and stain them for optimal 
      interpretation. Apply various special stains to evaluate specimens requiring 
      specialized treatment. 

  4. Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars, in-services and  
      reading journals.  
                    
  5.  Assume supervisory responsibilities in absence of Supervisor. Orient and train new 
       employees.         

  6. Provides assistance to the preanatomical phase of specimen processing in the Anatomic Pathology department.  Performs varied duties in providing technical assistance to the Pathologist and Pathology Assistant.                                                                    

  7.   Perform all other related duties as assigned.                                                                             

                                                                    

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year’s job-related experience or equivalent is required. CT ASCP is also required.
