Shelter House was established in 1981 as a grassroots response to the homelessness crisis in Fairfax County. Since our founding, we have continued to evolve to meet the changing needs of our community while partnering with local governments, community organizations, and supporters. Today, Shelter House is a respected nonprofit organization with more than 200 employees dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness and domestic violence.
Last year alone, our team helped nearly 4,000 individuals—including more than 2,000 children—access safe housing, critical resources, and supportive services. Our work is guided by our core values of Inclusivity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Empowerment (iC.A.R.E.).
The Case Manager provides comprehensive, trauma-informed case management services to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Managing a caseload of approximately 18–20 households, this role uses a Housing First approach to help clients secure and maintain permanent housing while building long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
As the primary point of contact for assigned clients, the Case Manager works closely with households to assess needs, develop individualized service plans, coordinate community resources, advocate on their behalf, and help remove barriers to housing, employment, financial stability, and overall well-being.
