This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
This is a temporary part-time summer position.
The Kids Camp Monitor is responsible for monitoring/supervising students who are attending summer Kids Camp programs offered through the Del Mar College Continuing Education Department. The Kids Camp Monitor performs a variety of non-teaching duties that require the exercise of good judgement while working with children.
On a daily basis, the Kids Camp Monitor is responsible for monitoring a group of up to 18 students and required to maintain order of those students during classroom instruction, during travel to and from pick up and drop off locations, during campus tours, and during designated break and restroom periods.
On a daily basis, the camp monitor will be responsible for verifying IDs at pick-up and ensuring the authorized person has signed student(s) out from camp.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be 18 years old or older.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Ability to actively engage and be involved with children on a daily basis.
Ability to use good judgement when responding to emergency situations.
Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with students, staff, parents, and public.
Ability to respond professionally and appropriately when dealing with children who may have special needs.
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) year of work experience supervising or monitoring children in a classroom or camp setting.
