Job Summary:
The KidsCare Director provides strategic and operational leadership for the KidsCare division, ensuring high-quality before and after school programming across all sites. This role leads and develops KidsCare Managers, establishes consistent operational standards, drives continuous improvement, and ensures programs are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the organization's mission, strategic priorities, and youth development philosophy.
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop KidsCare Managers through regular communication, performance management, accountability, and professional development.
  • Establish clear expectations, priorities, and measurable goals while fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide timely coaching, recognition, and corrective feedback to build leadership capacity throughout the division.
  • Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, succession planning, and retention efforts for KidsCare leadership positions.
  • Model organizational values and reinforce professional standards and positive workplace culture.
Division Operations & Program Excellence
  • Provide overall leadership for the daily operations of the KidsCare division while ensuring consistency across all program locations.
  • Ensure programs are planned and delivered in alignment with organizational standards, licensing requirements, grant expectations, and youth development best practices.
  • Partner with the Senior Director of Programming & Training to implement programming that supports strategic priorities and National Youth Outcomes Initiative objectives.
  • Monitor program quality through regular site visits, observations, and operational reviews, providing coaching and support for continuous improvement.
  • Lead implementation of operational initiatives and process improvements that increase efficiency and enhance the participant experience.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, licensing requirements, safety standards, and regulatory expectations.
  • Promote a culture of safety by ensuring facilities, equipment, supplies, and daily operations meet organizational expectations.
  • Lead division-wide implementation of trauma-informed behavior management practices and support managers in addressing complex youth and family situations.
  • Ensure staff receive required onboarding, safety, food service, compliance, and professional development training.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and oversee compliance with applicable grants, reporting requirements, and operational procedures.
Financial & Business Management
  • Develop and manage the KidsCare division budget while ensuring responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
  • Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency while maintaining program quality.
  • Oversee billing and revenue collection processes in partnership with KidsCare Managers and the Early Bird Supervisor to ensure accurate and timely payments.
  • Utilize operational and financial data to evaluate performance, identify trends, and support informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with organizational leadership on strategic planning, resource allocation, and division growth.
Community Engagement & Organizational Leadership
  • Serve as the primary ambassador for KidsCare by cultivating strong relationships with school districts, families, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization professionally at meetings, community events, and partnership opportunities to strengthen awareness and support for KidsCare services.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment across programming, operations, marketing, finance, and human resources.
  • Support organizational initiatives and strategic priorities while contributing as a member of the leadership team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience supervising others in a leadership role.
  • Knowledge of youth development strategies; must have sound judgement regarding safety.
  • Ability to effectively build and support a high performing team; group leadership skills, including motivating, inspiring, training and mentoring.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate in both small and large group settings.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to collaboratively develop solutions for problems with limited supervision in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, and coordinate resources.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of computer software applications, specifically Microsoft Office suite.
  • Reliable transportation, safe driving record, active driver’s license, and automobile insurance
  • Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist, and ability to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects up to 20lbs.
