Duties
- Create and maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Provide opportunities for all students to experience success based on their individual learning capacities.
- Plan and implement lessons aligned with Illinois Learning Standards and English Language Proficiency Standards.
- Use student assessment data to guide instructional decisions.
- Collaborate with staff to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Serve as a second language consultant to school staff by maintaining knowledge of current research, laws, best practices, and issues related to bilingual and English learner education.
- Participate in school improvement initiatives.
- Communicate with parents and students regarding academic progress, behavioral progress, concerns, and expectations related to second language acquisition.
- Serve as a bilingual liaison between English Language Learner (ELL) students, families, and the school community, including assisting with cultural and language differences.
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices and requirements related to the position.
- Support the mission of the school and district.
- Utilize conscious engagement regarding equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Represent the district in a professional manner.
- Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) currently registered with the appropriate endorsement applicable to the assigned teaching level and content area; or
- Provisional Educator endorsement in the appropriate area.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse learners and families from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Salary/Benefits
Position is for the 2026-2027 school year.
Salary Range is $50,251 - $102,751
