The Winneconne Community School District is seeking a part-time Kindergarten Classroom Aide for the upcoming school year. The primary job goal is to assist the classroom teacher in providing small-group instruction in reading, math, and language arts using direct instruction techniques. This position offers a steady morning schedule that aligns perfectly with the school calendar, making it an ideal role for someone dedicated to supporting early childhood development.

Schedule & Employment Terms

  • Days: Monday through Friday (School year calendar)

  • Hours: 7:30 AM to 12:15 PM (4.75 hours per day / 23.75 hours per week)

  • Reports To: Classroom Teacher (Evaluated by the Building Principal)

Performance Objectives & Duties

  • Instructional Support: Provide small-group and/or individual instruction as directed by the classroom teacher. Provide whole-group instruction following the teacher's introduction and direction.

  • Preparation & Assessment: Prepare assigned instructional materials. Assist the teacher by assessing basic observable skills and recording student observations.

  • Classroom Environment: Support and enforce the supervising teacher's methods of classroom management, discipline, and instruction.

  • Student Supervision: Actively supervise students during recess and/or in the cafeteria as assigned.

  • Flexibility: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Training in direct instruction techniques.

  • Proven experience working with groups of students.

  • Experience and aptitude for working with personal computers/related technology.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain a calm tone of voice and presence at all times.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time; sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.

  • Must have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computers.

  • Reach with hands and arms; ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

  • Must speak clearly so listeners can understand, and accurately understand/listen to the speech of another person.

Pre-Employment Screening

Successful completion of a criminal background check, physical exam, tuberculosis (TB) test, and a drug screen are required for all school employees pursuant to Wis. Stats. §118.25.
