TITLE: Kindergarten/Elementary Teacher
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: To teach students so that they learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate for teaching in grades K-5 elementary education.
- Possess a good academic background.
- Demonstrate skills in writing and speaking.
- Demonstrates an understanding of procedures utilized in the teaching of reading.
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with staff, students and the public.
- Understand and follow the school philosophy.
- Have knowledge of computer.
- Have experience and training in the curriculum areas of applied math and science.
- Have experience in creative writing.
- Have experience working with above average students, i.e. Gifted & Talented
- Have experience working with students below level, i.e. LD students
- Experience working in a teaming situation preferred.
- Understands the concept of Developmental Guidance and how it applies to the elementary classroom.
- Successful completion of the interview/writing process.
- Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a Kindergarten/Elementary Teacher.

- Implements his/her program of study.
- Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning.
- Utilizes instructional management systems which increases student learning and maximizes time on task.
- Monitors student progress toward learning outcomes.
- Maintains and upgrades professional skills.
- Maintains professional work habits.
- Promotes and maintains positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships.
- Performs other duties assigned by the Principal, Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent.
