Duties

General Duties and Responsibilities:

• Instruct students in subject areas (such as social emotional learning) using best practice strategies.
• Analyze student data to inform instructional goals.
• Plan and collaborate with teachers in the area of social studies.
• Integrate technology into lessons.
• Confers with students, parents, and school personnel to resolve student problems.
• Communicates student progress with parents.
• Other duties as assigned.

Planning and Preparation

• Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy
• Demonstrates knowledge of students
• Selects instructional goals for class and for individual students
• Demonstrates knowledge of resources
• Designs coherent instruction
• Designs student assessment

Classroom Environment

• Create respect and rapport
• Establishes a culture for learning
• Manages classroom procedures
• Manages student behavior
• Organizes physical space

Instruction

• Communicates clearly and accurately
• Uses questioning and discussion techniques
• Engages students in learning
• Provides feedback to students
• Demonstrates flexibility and responsibility

Professional Responsibilities

• Reflects on teaching
• Maintains accurate records
• Communicates with families
• Contributes to the community and the school
• Shows professional growth and development
• Shows professionalism in dealing with others

Qualifications

Kindergarten Teacher

Reports to: Principal

Job Summary:

The Kindergarten teacher provides leadership and support in the following areas: instruction, interventions, and social emotional learning.

Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator's License

• Must be endorsed in K or Early Childhood Education

• Willingness to sponsor and/or participate in extra-curricular activities.

Salary/Benefits

$56,364-$67,370 | Health & Dental Insurance | Retirement

Additional Notes

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Perform the physical tasks necessary to monitor, supervise and physically assist students throughout the school day during a variety of instructional activities. Must be able to function effectively in an active, loud environment. Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment as circumstances require.
