Pay is annualized over 12 months.• AA, BA, MA, PhD add $0.50, $1.00, $1.50, $2.00 per hour respectively (only the highest applies).Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, basic life and AD&D insurance, retirement plan, deferred compensation, paid holidays, paid leave.General Description: Prepare produce, salad bar, condiments and dishes in a high‑production kitchen. Operate the cash register, collect meal counts per USDA regulations, and provide quality meals to students and staff.Essential Functions:Daily food production on a three‑day cycle (produce, salad bar, menu items).Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen work station in a “clean‑as‑you‑go” approach.Assist team members with accurate recipes and substitute ingredients.Follow sanitation and health standards, maintain HACCP records, and prevent cross‑contamination.Prepare menu items in advance, order supplies, store delivered items, and support inventory.Ensure an adult is stationed at the point of service during service times.Use the computer system to track student purchases; monitor accounts; send reports; maintain by‑name meal counting system.Provide respectful and professional customer service to team members, guests, and stakeholders.Check student identification against system records; maintain daily sales records.Process daily reports for Nutrition Services.Assist kitchen leadership with front‑of‑house supplies; communicate with Nutrition Services office about needed supplies.Communicate with central office regarding report errors.Work as a team and mentor kitchen substitutes.Substitute in other department positions as necessary.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Team work and direction following.Knowledge of district policies, Nutrition Services procedures, federal, state and local laws (food safety, USDA regulations, menu patterns, preparation methods, etc.).Ability to promote nutrition education.Self‑motivation and teamwork.Computer and cash handling skills; basic math; basic grammar, spelling, and language; ability to remain calm under stress.Organizational skills; relationship building.Reliable transportation.Mental Demands:Deal with a wide range of behaviors and needs.Work schedule changes according to district needs.Maintain focus on details and safety.Occasional difficult clients.Physical Demands:Lift up to 45 lbs routinely; occasionally up to 65 lbs.Exposure to sub‑zero and hot conditions.Approximately 10% sitting, 45% walking, 45% standing; frequent bending, twisting, lifting, kneeling, crouching.Required Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent with related work experience.Current and valid food handler's permit.Valid Washington State Driver's License.Proper grammar, spelling, language, basic math skills.Membership in American Culinary Federation (preferred).ServeSafe certification (preferred).Previous cashier experience at point of sale (preferred).Terms of Employment:Nutrition Services classification under PSEC Salary Schedule.School year position: 182 days; hours per day and days per week vary; district may revise assignment/location.Clearances: WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance.Evaluation: Performance evaluated per PSE collective bargaining agreement.Continuing Education / Training:School safety training within 30 days and annually.CPR/First Aid card within 60 days and thereafter.Other trainings as directed by supervisor or director.Submit current licenses to HR when obtained.Equal Opportunity Employer: Cheney Public Schools does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, creed, religion, color, national origin, age, veteran or military status, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, economic status, pregnancy, familial status, marital status, disability, or use of a trained guide dog or service animal.Contact Information:Kellisa Kulm, Assistant Director – Nutrition ServicesEmail: kkulm@cheneysd.org#J-18808-Ljbffr
