Responsibilities:

As part of this exciting expansion, Senior LIFE seeks a hardworking, dedicated and compassionate Kitchen Assistant/Dietary Aide who, in conjunction with the Kitchen Manager, will prepare meals and assist members with eating and cleanup. As a core member of the kitchen staff, the Kitchen Assistant/Dietary Aide will have many important responsibilities including:

  • Assisting in meal preparation and service
  • Setting tables, setting up and serving trays, and pouring beverages
  • Assisting during meal times, as needed, and visiting members in dining areas
  • Cleaning up dining, dietary and day rooms before and after meal services
  • Ensuring safe, responsible use of food preparation and service equipment, plus storage after use  
  • Sanitizing work spaces following meal preparation
Qualifications:

In this hands-on position, the Kitchen Assistant will work with  LIFE Center staff, as well as with elderly members who may require special assistance. Compassion, a positive attitude and a desire to help others is important to this role, as is the ability to effectively communicate special requests and concerns from staff, members and families.

 

All applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, plus at least one year’s experience working with geriatric patients, plus work in a food service and/or preparation role. Final candidate will be required to pass an adult CPR course, if he/she is not already certified.
