The Our House Residential Care Facility (RCF) is a 14-room facility with a team of expert clinicians who work with people living with HIV who are having difficulty managing independent living. By tailoring nursing, social services, and therapeutic everyday activities our clients and residents are able to define what 'living well' means to them. Our House of Portland a program apart of CAP Northwest is excited to announce that we are hiring skilled and team-oriented Kitchen Assistant. This position is responsible for collaborating with kitchen and nursing staff to assist with providing meals and snacks for resident.

This is a Part-Time (0.6 FTE) role working at Our House of Portland located in SE Portland. The schedule for this role is Thursday-Saturday 6:30am-3:00pm

Starting pay is $23.17 an hour which is equivalent to just over $28,916 a year with a $1.00 differential for weekends. The Kitchen Assistant's Pay increases with tenure and the top of the pay scale is $27.16. This is a union represented position, so the compensation, benefits and conditions of work are collectively bargained.

Who You Are

  • Ability to pass DHS background check to work in a Residential Care Facility (Potential Disqualifying Conviction List)
  • Food handler's card or ability to obtain one in the first 3 months of hire.
  • First aid certification or ability to become certified in the first 3 months of hire
  • Motivation to work with people living with HIV/AIDS who require all levels of care.
  • Willingness to work with people with physical and emotional health and/or substance use disorder.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Cooks and trains in short order and meal service cooking for 20 meals per service
  • Communicate with staff and residents about daily meals.
  • Follows all dietary instructions for residents, including
  • Orients self with updates since last shift
  • Follows all portion size guidelines.
  • Follows all food safety guidelines and maintains kitchen cleanliness
  • Cooks food that is nutritious and follows all dietary instructions for residents
