About the Job

Based at Mandarin Oriental Jakarta, the Kitchen Intern will support the hotel's culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences for guests. This role ensures that food preparation, hygiene, and presentation meet the highest standards of quality and creativity. The intern reports to the Executive Chef and works closely with the Kitchen team.

As Kitchen Intern, you will be responsible for the following duties:

Food Preparation Support

  • Assist chefs in preparing ingredients and basic dishes.
  • Support plating and presentation to ensure consistency with MO standards.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen workstations.
  • Assist in preparing menus and logistics for outlets, banquets, VIP events, and or special functions.

Operations & Hygiene

  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Assist in monitoring kitchen equipment and reporting maintenance needs.
  • Support daily kitchen operations including mise-en place and stock rotation.

Administration

  • Record and update kitchen production sheets and checklists.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of ingredients and supplies.

Event & Special Projects

  • Assist in preparing menus and logistics for banquets, VIP events, or special functions.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other tasks as required to support the culinary department.

What We Expect from You

  • Currently pursuing or recently completing a degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or related field.
  • Strong interest in culinary operations and guest dining experiences.
  • Good command of English and strong organizational skills.
  • Passionate, detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
