Position Overview
The Kitchen Manager is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen operation while staying within budget. This role oversees sanitation, inventory, food storage, meal service, and compliance with food safety standards to help ensure clients receive healthy and nutritious meals in a safe environment.

Key Responsibilities
The following duties represent the primary responsibilities of this position. Additional duties may be assigned as operational needs require.
  • Maintain compliance with local health codes and food safety standards.
  • Oversee kitchen sanitation, cleanliness, and inspection readiness.
  • Monitor inventory, kitchen tools, food deliveries, and proper food storage/rotation.
  • Ensure safe food preparation and meal service procedures are followed.
  • Enforce portion control and support orderly meal service for clients.
  • Conduct weekly sanitation inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Help ensure kitchen security, including controlling contraband and limiting unauthorized access to food preparation areas.
  • Maintain professionalism, accountability, and accurate documentation related to kitchen operations.

Required Qualifications

Education
  • High School Diploma required.

Experience
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to prepare accurate, concise reports using proper format, grammar, and spelling
  • Ability to accurately count persons and account for those absent
  • Ability to search persons and areas and identify/remove contraband
  • Knowledge of sanitation, kitchen safety, and food service operations
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and secure kitchen environment

Licenses / Certifications
  • ServSafe certification required and must be kept current at all times.
  • Ability to obtain food safety manager certification within 60 days of assignment as applicable.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years of experience working with offenders or criminal justice at-risk clients preferred
  • College degree preferred
  • Applicable related experience may be considered

Work Environment
This position may operate in a combination of kitchen, residential program, and structured facility environments. Responsibilities include active movement throughout the kitchen and dining areas, sanitation oversight, food service operations, and maintaining safe and orderly conditions.
