Description

We're looking for someone who loves building organized, efficient kitchens just as much as they love great food. This isn't a typical Kitchen Manager position. You'll oversee kitchen operations across two hospitality properties the established Mendocino Grove and our newest venture, Mendocino Cove, home to frolic, our new restaurant and gathering space.

You'll work alongside ownership and our Chief Development Officer to build systems, develop people, source exceptional products, and create a culinary operation that reflects the quality and experience our guests have come to expect.

Relocating? Employee housing may be available for the right candidate, making this an excellent opportunity to build your career while living on the beautiful Mendocino Coast.

If you're passionate about organization, leadership, local sourcing, and creating systems that allow great food to happen, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

You'll lead the operational side of both kitchens by:

  • Managing purchasing, ordering, and vendor relationships

  • Overseeing inventory and food cost controls across both properties

  • Creating staff schedules and managing labor to meet business needs

  • Hiring, training, coaching, and developing kitchen team members

  • Building organized, efficient kitchen systems and maintaining high operational standards

  • Supporting menu implementation and seasonal food & beverage programming

  • Executing and growing our retail food program, including charcuterie, grab-and-go offerings, and house-made specialty items

  • Jumping into service when needed and leading by example

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of kitchen management or culinary leadership experience

  • Strong knowledge of purchasing, inventory management, scheduling, and food cost controls

  • Experience leading and developing teams

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • A hands-on leader who enjoys coaching others and improving systems

  • Passion for hospitality and locally sourced food

  • ServSafe Manager Certification (or ability to obtain)

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to help shape the future of food and beverage for two growing hospitality brands on the Mendocino Coast.

You'll have the chance to:

  • Help build a new culinary program from the ground up

  • Work directly with ownership on strategy and growth

  • Develop relationships with local farmers, fishermen, wineries, and artisan producers

  • Build systems that will support long-term success

  • Grow your leadership role as our food and beverage program expands

  • Potential employee housing available for qualified candidates relocating to the area
