Job Summary: The Kitchen Specialist at Brundage Lane Navigation Center is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, supporting cooking staff, and assisting with food prep tasks. This position entails washing cookware, sanitizing surfaces, sweeping and mopping floors, and managing food deliveries and storage. The role also involves helping with meal service, garbage removal, and client-facing tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Kitchen
Keep all kitchen work surfaces (counters, sinks, stoves, walls) clean and sanitized
Sweep and mop floors at the beginning and ending of shifts
Wash cookware, utensils and cutlery fast to keep them in rotation
Arrange equipment and ingredient deliveries
Keep the food and supply storage areas organize
Take out the garbage
Help with routine food prep tasks (e.g., peeling and chopping vegetables) when needed
Assist with ongoing logistics tasks in the dining area, including but not limited to taking out garbage, sweeping and mopping floors, assisting with meal service, and bussing and cleaning tables
Requirements:
Education and Experience
A fast learner with an interest in kitchen work
Ability to read fine prints of labels including ingredients and expiration dates
Possess a willingness to adhere to health and safety rules
High school degree or equivalent is preferred but not required
General
Possess excellent organizational skills
Possess patience and compassion to serve in a client-facing role
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment
Ability to lift, pull, or push items weighing up to 50 pounds and up to 5 feet
