About the Role:
The Kitchen Supervisor in the Health Care and Social Assistance industry plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the kitchen within a healthcare facility. This position is responsible for overseeing food preparation, managing kitchen staff, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations to provide nutritious meals tailored to patient and resident needs. The role requires coordinating with dietitians, nursing staff, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of meals that meet dietary restrictions and quality standards. The Supervisor will also implement training programs, monitor inventory, and optimize kitchen workflows to enhance productivity and minimize waste. Ultimately, this position ensures that the kitchen operates smoothly to support the overall health and well-being of patients and residents through high-quality food service.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role within a commercial or healthcare kitchen environment.
Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations, including HACCP and local health codes.
Strong leadership and team management experience.
Basic understanding of dietary requirements in healthcare settings.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree or equivalent.
Certification in Food Safety Management or ServSafe Manager Certification.
Experience working in a healthcare or long-term care facility kitchen.
Formal culinary training or certification.
Familiarity with nutrition and therapeutic diets used in healthcare.
Proficiency with kitchen management software and inventory control systems.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient food preparation, cooking, and service.
Manage, train, and schedule kitchen staff to maintain high performance, teamwork, and morale.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations within a healthcare food service environment.
Collaborate with dietitians and healthcare professionals to meet special dietary needs and restrictions.
Monitor inventory, control food costs, and oversee equipment maintenance to uphold budgetary and quality standards.
