A warm, organized, and proactive nanny/family assistant is sought for a family with two children (ages 9 and 6) on the Upper East Side. This is a long-term opportunity for a candidate who is seeking a meaningful role supporting a busy dual-career household. The family is looking for one consistent, dependable person who can provide both after-school childcare and family assistant support. The schedule will typically be 3 pm - 7 pm Monday through Friday, with flexibility required to stay later on occasion, with advance notice. The family is seeking someone who can become a trusted, long-term presence and help simplify the day-to-day logistics of a busy household.
No driving is required for this role; all schools, activities, and errands are within walking distance of the family's home.
Responsibilities:
Childcare
School pick-ups and supervision of after-school transitions
Accompanying children to nearby activities and appointments
Supporting homework routines and reading assignments
Managing after-school and evening routines, including snacks, showers, and activity preparation
Encouraging independence while providing structure and guidance
Engaging the children in creative, active, and age-appropriate activities
Supporting the family's values around manners, healthy habits, and no screens
Family Assistant Duties
Booking and coordinating children's activities and classes
Helping manage family schedules and logistics
Registering children for programs and activities as directed
Running local errands, including gift purchases and household-related tasks
Emptying and loading the dishwasher
Setting the table and assisting with light household upkeep
Keeping children's rooms and common areas tidy and organized
Maintaining established organizational systems within the home
Washing and preparing children's snack containers for the following day
Assisting with children's laundry (the family also employs a housekeeper)
Working with the children to put away toys and maintain orderly spaces
Proactively identifying and addressing household needs
Meal Preparation (the family has a chef, so this responsibility is limited)
Preparing simple snacks
Heating prepared meals
Preparing simple children's meals when needed (e.g., pasta)
Cutting fruits and vegetables and supporting healthy eating habits
Qualifications:
Prior experience caring for school-aged children
Experience in a nanny, family assistant, household management, or similar role
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to balance childcare responsibilities with household support
Comfortable managing multiple schedules and priorities
French language skills are a huge plus, since the family is also French-speaking and would love to reinforce this with the children
Familiarity with Manhattan and navigating a walkable urban environment is a plus
Requirements:
Valid U.S. Passport, Green Card, or Employment Authorization Card (EAC)
Candidates should be dependable, punctual, warm, nurturing, and emotionally attuned
Candidates should also be aligned with a household culture that values manners, organization, healthy habits, and no screens
Salary and Benefits:
$40/hr on the books (candidates must be on board with W2 payment)
All industry standard benefits (prorated)
