    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Position Title: Forklift Operator

    Department Title: Production, Receiving

    Reports To: Production Manager, Shift Supervisor, Shipping/Receiving/Warehouse Supervisor

    Position Overview:

    This position is responsible for operating sit-down industrial lift trucks (forklifts) and/or electric walk behind hand jacks to perform a variety of lifting and moving tasks within Shipping, Receiving, Production and Warehouse areas.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Learn and perform specific safety and operational procedures for each type of forklift; including daily inspection, changing of batteries and/or propane tanks and troubleshooting maintenance issues
    2. Report any damage of a truck or food safety issue before unloading
    3. Become familiar with the company PO system
    4. Must adhere to company rules and follow GMP signs and maintain good personal hygiene.
    5. Daily tasks are not limited to, but may include the following:
      1. Supplying production lines with potatoes by either emptying totes or bin boxes into hoppers
      2. Moving full bin boxes away from washer, sizer and/or boxing area and storing in warehouse areas
      3. Moving finished FC product into the Cooler or finished Dehy product into the Dry Warehouse
      4. Remove full containers of recycling or garbage to the proper areas
      5. Transport packaging or ingredients to production areas, as needed
      6. Work with the Q.A./Sanitation Manager or Shipping/Receiving/Warehouse Supervisor to pull the appropriate products for finished order fulfillment
      7. Assist with loading/unloading incoming/outgoing trucks

    · Assure that all pallets are placed in a truck in a manner so that they will ride securely

      1. Report any damaged pallets, products or packaging whether during unloading, storage or loading
      2. Properly place raw product in the warehouse and finished product in the racking systems
      3. Assist with keeping coolers, raw and finished product storage areas neat and sanitary, Empty garbage barrels and boxes as needed
      4. Remove broken pallets and bin boxes to specified areas or fix appropriately
      5. Assist with properly maintaining the recycling program
      6. Ensure overhead doors are kept closed when not in use

    1. Required to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the entire plant.
    2. May require working on a Saturday and/or Sunday to accommodate customer needs.
    3. Demonstrate flexibility-able and willing to perform tasks at all levels (from sweeping floors to operating production)
    4. If trained and qualified, utilize other equipment around the plant or facility to assist in various duties (i.e.-snow removal, etc.)
    5. Perform other duties as requested during slower times

    Required Skills:

    1. General machine operating experience.
    2. Good written and verbal communication skills
