The Front Office Student Assistant provides reception and administrative support for KUT-KUTX Radio and serves as the first point of contact for visitors, staff, volunteers, and community members. This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, professional, and committed to creating a welcoming and positive experience for everyone who interacts with the station.
General Notes:
Through independent local, regional, national and international news, and transformative music and community storytelling, we bring people together, amplify voices and provide critical information. KUT Public Media is a voice of — and for — the Central Texas community.
Purpose:
Staffing the front desk reception area of the KUT Public Media lobby.
Responsibilities:
Greet and assist staff, volunteers, community members, guests, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
Maintain a welcoming and organized front-office environment.
Answer and direct phone calls with excellent customer service and professionalism.
Respond to email inquiries and route requests as appropriate.
Issue parking passes for guests and maintain parking log.
Perform general administrative and clerical duties, including printing, scanning, copying, and filing.
Receive and distribute deliveries and mail.
Monitor and restock office and mailroom supplies, including copier paper and other essential materials.
Assist with special projects and other office-related duties as assigned.
Comfort with asking questions and willingness to learn when answers are unknown.
Required Qualifications:
Available to work in shift blocks of at least two-hours at a time throughout the week and on Fridays from 9am-4pm.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
Professional phone etiquette and a positive, approachable demeanor.
Strong written communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks in a sometimes fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated attention to detail with strong follow-up and follow-through skills.
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Strong computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office applications and Outlook.
Dependable, punctual, and able to represent KUT-KUTX professionally.
Current UT Austin student and Work Study status.
Preferred Qualifications:
Enthusiasm for public media and community engagement.
Experience in an office, reception, customer service, or administrative support role.
Ability to remain calm, resourceful, and professional when handling diverse requests

$15/hour
