L.A. Works - VISTA Digital Communications Fellow

L.A. Works was founded in 1991 to harness Los Angeles' volunteer power and mobilizes thousands of volunteers each year to address critical community needs. The organization works to increase participation in service, strengthen nonprofit capacity through volunteers and other resources, and deepen community engagement around issues affecting Angelenos. The VISTA Digital Communications Fellow will build L.A. Works' capacity to recruit, engage, and retain volunteers through stronger external communications systems. The Fellow will assess current social media, website, and newsletter strategies; analyze engagement and volunteer conversion data; establish baseline metrics; and develop recommendations to strengthen outreach, particularly to under-resourced communities. The Fellow will also develop sustainable communications infrastructure, including calendars, workflows, templates, audience segmentation strategies, digital content organization systems, dashboards, reporting tools, and documentation. These systems will help L.A. Works better understand audience behavior, improve targeted volunteer outreach, and sustain effective communications practices beyond the VISTA service term. Through this work, the Fellow will strengthen how L.A. Works connects volunteers and community partners to meaningful service opportunities that address poverty-related needs across Los Angeles. Member Duties : The VISTA Digital Communications Fellow will assess and strengthen L.A. Works' external communications systems that support volunteer recruitment and community engagement. The Fellow will analyze social media, website, newsletter, and volunteer engagement data; establish baseline metrics; evaluate dashboards and reporting tools; and develop recommendations to improve outreach and recruitment messaging. The Fellow will build sustainable systems such as communications calendars, workflows, templates, audience segmentation strategies, digital content organization processes, reporting tools, and training documentation. The VISTA will also strengthen systems for tracking volunteer participation and community impact for major Days of Service and will participate in Volunteer Corps meetings, leadership development, and service initiatives.
