Lab Analyst I

Schedule: Night Shift -7:00 PM-7:00 AM; 12-hour shifts; 3 consecutive shifts on a rotating schedule, including weekends as needed

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of professional laboratory experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to evaluate analytical results against established standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize competing laboratory activities, and maintain productivity.
• Ability to work 12-hour overnight shifts, rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in analytical testing, quality control, chemistry, agriculture, pharmaceutical, chemical, food, or manufacturing laboratories.
• Basic working knowledge of HPLC and/or GC.
• Experience with LIMS, CDS, or other laboratory information systems.
• Experience troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation.
• Experience working in a regulated or quality-focused laboratory environment.

Summary:

Seeking a Lab Analyst I to join its Analytical Services laboratory in Kansas City. This position supports routine analytical testing used for process control, quality control, product development, process development, and waste management. This is an excellent opportunity for a laboratory professional who enjoys hands-on analytical work and wants to gain experience with laboratory instrumentation, computerized laboratory systems, data analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement in a high-volume, 24/7 production environment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine analytical testing according to established protocols, SOPs, methods, and work instructions.
• Prepare samples and solutions and perform required laboratory calculations and data entry.
• Operate laboratory instruments and computerized systems, including LIMS, CDS, and instrument-specific software.
• Review analytical data and LIMS reports for accuracy, completeness, and potential discrepancies.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance and identify operational issues with laboratory equipment.
• Troubleshoot routine instrument or testing issues and escalate more complex problems when necessary.
• Search databases for analytical methods, specifications, standards, and other information needed to complete testing.
• Accurately document and report analytical results while maintaining strong data integrity.
• Monitor laboratory supplies and communicate when consumables reach critical levels.
• Clean glassware, manage laboratory waste, and support overall laboratory housekeeping.
• Support hazardous waste activities and follow applicable waste-management requirements.
• Communicate testing issues, sample integrity concerns, safety concerns, and process improvement opportunities to laboratory leadership.
• Participate in laboratory safety programs, continuous improvement initiatives, and cross-site projects.
• Work collaboratively with team members while maintaining productivity in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
