Title: Lab Assistant - 3rd shift Shift: 10:30pm-7am Location: Marlborough, MA Pay Rate: $23.00/hr. on w2 Duration: 3 Months Job Overview: Performs routine laboratory support tasks with precision and accuracy to assist laboratory professionals and ensure efficient workflow and production. Key Responsibilities: Sort and receive laboratory specimens in the department Perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments Centrifuge specimens and manage sample preparation processes Print and manage specimen labels Record and monitor data (e.g., temperature logs) Store and retrieve specimens accurately Prepare reagents and laboratory media Prepare samples for testing, including: Building worklists Aliquoting specimens into sample containers Checking specimens for clots or fibrin Performing inoculation and slide preparation Conduct QA/QC (Quality Assurance / Quality Control) tasks Resolve pending worklists and locate missing samples Maintain cleanliness and decontaminate work areas Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests Maintain departmental records and documentation Change gas cylinders as required Follow all PPE guidelines and laboratory safety regulations Operate laboratory computer systems and standard PCs Dispose of biohazardous waste safely Complete required training and competency assessments Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required Medical assistant training preferred Coursework in math and science preferred Experience: No prior experience required (entry-level role) Key Skills & Competencies: Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to retain and apply learned procedures Effective communication and teamwork skills Professional interaction with coworkers and customersI
