Job Title: Lab Assistant Job Location: Indianapolis, IN 46250 Job Duration: 6 Months of contract Shift: Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM Job Summary: The Laboratory Support Technician performs a variety of routine laboratory functions with precision and accuracy to support laboratory staff and ensure efficient workflow and production. Key Responsibilities: Sort and receive specimens within the department Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment Centrifuge specimens, print labels, and record data (e.g., temperature logs) Store and retrieve specimens as required Prepare reagents and media Prepare specimens for testing, including: Building worklists Aliquoting specimens into sample containers Checking for clots or fibrin Inoculation and slide preparation Perform assigned Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) duties Resolve pending specimen lists and locate missing samples Decontaminate work areas and maintain cleanliness Conduct weekly radioactive wipe tests Maintain department records and files Change gas cylinders as needed Follow all PPE guidelines and safety regulations Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs Dispose of biohazardous materials safely Complete required training and competency assessments Education: High school diploma or equivalent required Medical assistant training preferred Coursework in math and science is a plus Experience: No prior experience required Skills & Requirements: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Ability to retain and apply learned information Effective communication and teamwork skills Professional and respectful interaction with colleagues and customersI
