Job Summary

Sigma Systems is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Lab Assistant to support the Bioanalysis group within the Drug Metabolism/Pharmacokinetics (BA-DMPK) department in Ridgefield, CT. This position will provide laboratory inventory, material management, shipping, and operational support for reagents, reference standards, matrices, and other materials used in nonclinical and clinical bioanalytical studies.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a laboratory, laboratory inventory, logistics, materials management, or operational support environment and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced setting while maintaining a high level of accuracy, organization, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Fulfill laboratory material dispensing requests and maintain accurate inventory records for reagents, reference standards, matrices, and other laboratory materials.
• Organize and manage laboratory freezers, including freezer space management and periodic inventory verification.
• Maintain inventory databases, spreadsheets, electronic tracking systems, and related documentation.
• Coordinate domestic and international shipments of reagents, biological materials, matrices, reference standards, and other laboratory materials.
• Ensure appropriate packaging, labeling, shipping documentation, and regulatory compliance for laboratory materials.
• Maintain shipment records, tracking information, and logistics databases.
• Complete shipping documentation and assist with applications and renewals for permits related to the shipment and clearance of reference standards and biological materials.
• Communicate with internal customers, cross-functional teams, and external vendors regarding material requests, shipment status, and logistics requirements.
• Collaborate with teams across DMPK and Bioanalysis to support laboratory operations.
• Follow applicable regulations, SOPs, safety procedures, and company policies when handling, storing, and shipping laboratory materials.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities and responding proactively to urgent requests.
• Support equipment maintenance, freezer management, and other operational activities as assigned by Bioanalysis/DMPK management.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BS) in a related scientific or technical discipline.
• Experience working in a laboratory, inventory management, logistics, materials management, or operational support environment.
• Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently while following established procedures and guidelines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to occasionally lift and move freezer racks, containers, or boxes weighing approximately 20–35 pounds.
• Ability to safely retrieve materials from upper freezer shelves.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with laboratory inventory management.
• Experience managing laboratory reagents, reference standards, matrices, or biological materials.
• Experience coordinating domestic and international laboratory shipments.
• Knowledge of shipping documentation, permits, and regulatory requirements for laboratory materials.
• Experience with laboratory inventory tracking systems, electronic databases, LIMS, or other laboratory software.
• Experience supporting Bioanalysis, DMPK, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences operations.
